Dear family and friends of Girton Glebe Primary,
I am delighted to have been appointed as the new Headteacher of Girton Glebe Primary School. It is a privilege to be asked to lead the school into the next phase of its improvement and growth. At the heart of my vision for the school is a commitment to maintaining a legacy of high academic attainment and refocus the school’s position at the centre of a vibrant village community.
I arrived at Girton Glebe in November from Chesterton Community College after joining Eastern Learning Alliance in September 2020. I have 10 years’ experience in education, with my most notable positions held at Mayfield Primary and Gretton School. My proudest accomplishment in education so far has been raising the profile of Mental Health and Wellbeing within a Primary setting and thus improving the provision – an experience and devotion I wish to commit to Girton Glebe.
As many of you are aware, this letter of introduction has been slightly delayed due to the arrival of my daughter. As a fellow resident of South Cambridgeshire and new father, I value and understand the desire for a school to offer their families stability and consistent leadership. We have a number of exciting plans being developed ahead of the 2022/23 academic year, but we will limit the number of significant changes, focusing on getting everyday routines and habits consistent and ensuring high quality teaching and learning – particularly pertinent as we come out of the impact of the national landscape of the last 2 years. The drive towards improving the school environment can also be observed in significant refurbishment projects currently underway.
I shall be a visible and approachable Headteacher; one who truly champions our students and their many successes and is committed to the long-term success of the school. In doing so, I am keen to harness the views and energy of our school community and will be holding regular parent forums in the months ahead through tea and coffee mornings.
I will continue to work closely with Miss Pyle as we move away from the interim co-Headship we have had in place since December. I have so thoroughly enjoyed being a part of this team, and it is partly down to this positive working relationship that helped my decision to apply to stay on at Girton Glebe. Collaboration with the existing and passionate staff at Girton Glebe, and the wider support we will continue to receive from ELA, will ensure a bright, prosperous future.
It is a privilege to be appointed and I look forward to working with you all in the coming months and years. In the meantime, please do introduce yourself to me if you see me around.
Yours faithfully,
Chris Butler
Headteacher
