We use a balanced range of assessments to understand how well pupils are progressing in maths. These assessments help us respond quickly, provide targeted support and ensure high expectations for every child.
How We Measure Impact
We use a combination of:
- PUMA termly standardised reading assessments
- Ongoing teacher assessment through discussions, work and classroom talk
- Pupil voice, learning walks and book looks
- Internal and trust-wide moderation to ensure consistency and accuracy
What This Means for Our Pupils
As a result of our coherent, research-informed Maths curriculum, pupils at Girton Glebe:
- Children at Girton Glebe will be able to discuss their learning; identifying the progress they have made and knowing their next steps for learning.
- They will be familiar with the age-related expectations for their year group and be able to discuss their own work in line with these.
- They understand, are fluent and confident with number.
- Are exposed to a range of methods to solve problems and appreciate that some methods are more efficient than others depending on the question.
- Speak and use mathematical vocabulary confidently, listen respectfully and contribute thoughtfully.
- Apply their skills effectively in inquiry and real-world contexts.
- Children will finish their year in EYFS being school ready and ready to apply number and mathematical concepts and skills to the National Curriculum and KS1 learning environments.
- Continue to consistently perform better than National in the Year 4 Multiplication Table Check (MTC), allowing Year 4 children to feel confident applying their multiplication facts to a range of concepts with fluency.
- Continue to consistently perform better than National for Expected and Greater Depth in KS2 Maths SATs: more than 80% of our children to achieve expected or above in their KS2 maths SATs; and more than 20 % of our children to achieve Greater Depth in their KS2 SATs.
By the end of Year 6, pupils leave us as confident mathematicians and problem solvers, who are well-prepared for the next stage of their education.
